Insulation Installed Right First Time!

For the Insulation Industry

Industry

Insulation is no longer just a line item – it’s a performance driver

Quality assurance for insulation installation

The insulation market in Australia is expanding fast, driven by rising energy costs, tighter building standards, and growing consumer demand for more efficient, comfortable homes.

Whether it’s energy efficiency mandates, rising power costs, or the growing expectations of homeowners for economical comfort and sustainability, insulation has moved from the background of residential building construction to the forefront of value creation.

This shift represents more than a product trend – it’s a business opportunity

The insulation opportunity in Australia

All houses in Australia built since 2003 are insulated. Some are not insulated as well as they should be to achieve optimum energy efficiency, but they all meet minimum ‘regulated’ requirements.

But what about the 6 million plus dwellings built pre 2003?

In short, many are under-insulated – Australian homes are notoriously cold in winter and hot in summer as flimsy weatherboards and brick veneer structures do little to abate the temperature extremes.

Retrofit – not compulsory (yet)

Retrofit insulation is a cornerstone of Australia’s strategy to achieve a safe climate future and net-zero emissions by 2050 – and that means insulating the 6 million plus dwellings built pre 2003.

Retrofit isn’t just a stop-gap or secondary market, but a central, stable pillar of the insulation industry.

Most energy-policy analysts expect mandatory insulation standards will be introduced Australia-wide by 2030. Mandatory insulation standards already exist for rental homes across most states and states are increasingly introducing programs encouraging or requiring retrofit insulation.

Unlocking the retrofit insulation market with IIAA
